First Rivets!!

After a month of obsessive attention to detail working with these pieces of metal, It's ready for riveting.

The last step in metalwork is priming. As such, 36 hours before the final assembly, I did my final priming for the rudder [full size] I made a new rack that I call the windchimes. it worked extremely well, providing both a good application surface as well as expedited and enhanced handling capabilities. The construction is simple, just a PVC tube with various holes drilled into it to fit the wires you see, works like a charm. Next time I use this, I'll be cutting slots into the pipe on the ends to prevent rotation from weight on a single side, or using elbows for the same. So the day came, and here we were, putting the rudder together. The first rivets in what will soon hopefully be a plane. [full size]
