Deburring 2

Well, it's 1 month in, and I've figured it out.

[full size] This ugly tool is my deburring legendary artifact. What's pictured is Orange hatchbox PLA aged to a rugged 5 years, and in that PLA sits an Avery precision countersink tool. Despite the name "precision", this poor tool has a whole 1/16" of runout. The other end of the very PLA that binds the avery countersink in this heavenly object is itself bound to a 3/8 hex bolt head to 1/4 hex shank adapter, a common 1$ item at every hardware store. All together, the thing is worth 18.03$. Here's the breakdown 16.95$ - Avery #40 CSNK 01.00$ - 3/8" hex bolt, 1/4" shank 00.08$ - PLA - Orange

And with these ingredients you make the thing above. [full size] that's an electric screwdriver, max speed: 220 RPM. perfect speed for deburring quickly without oops-ing too much material off.

It's a common 'trick' that builders use to deburr holes quickly- tickle it with a countersink bit. This device has to make contact with a hole for half a second with no pressure. Doing the math, that's 1.83 revolutions, or ~5.5 passes with a cutting edge. These passes are enough to wipe away nearly all imperfections over a short time. I prefer to hold the tool like an actual screwdriver. This method makes it both faster, and more precise than holding it by the handle.

I'll probably end up back to thinking that deburring is very boring, but each and every trick helps to make this relevant part of building quicker and better.
